Celebrating the life of

Scot Aaron Ritchie

Passed away on March 18, 2025

Scot Aaron Ritchie

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Scot Aaron Ritchie, age 53, of Savannah, Georgia, who left this world far too soon on March 18, 2025. Born on January 18, 1972, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Scot was the beloved son of William Ritchie and the late Linda Vanevenhoven Ritchie. He grew up in St. Cloud, where he graduated from St. Cloud Apollo High School in 1990. His passion for tennis led him to the University of Tampa, where he competed on the men’s tennis team before completing his degree at the University of South Florida, continuing his love for the sport.

While in Tampa, Scot met the love of his life, Starr Cribler Ritchie, and together they built a marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion for 22 years. His professional journey began with Toyota in Tampa in 1999, a career that took him to Atlanta before he ultimately found his home in Savannah, where he spent the past 15 years as an integral part of Savannah Toyota. Scot’s leadership, dedication, and kindness made a lasting impact on both his colleagues and customers.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, Scot’s greatest pride and joy were his three children: Reese Marie, Marlo Claire, and Archer Finn. He was their biggest cheerleader—coaching, encouraging, and celebrating their every achievement. Whether on the sidelines or at home, his love and guidance shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.

Scot’s generosity extended beyond his family. He was a faithful parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a dedicated supporter of its renovation campaign, and a proud member of the Forest City Gun Club. Whether through his involvement in local events or his willingness to lend a helping hand, Scot embodied the spirit of community. His warmth, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Scot is survived by his wife, Starr, and their children, Reese, Marlo, and Archer. He also leaves behind his father, William Ritchie, his brother Andy Ritchie (Kathy), his sister Maria Ritchie Wedel (Jeremy), and his adored niece and nephews, Grace Ritchie, Jackson Wedel, and Josh Wedel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Ritchie.

Scot’s legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will endure for generations.

A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1003 E. Victory Drive, Savannah, GA, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM, followed by a private burial. Visitation will be Friday, March 21st, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive.

In lieu of flowers, Scot’s family requests that memorial gifts be made to CURE Childhood Cancer, the American Heart Association, or Castaways Pet Rescue, continuing his spirit of giving and care for others.

Scot lived his life with purpose, love, and a generous heart—a life well-lived and deeply cherished. His big laugh, strong hug, and storytelling will never be forgotten.

Sending heartfelt condolences to the Ritchie family. Our boys knew Scot best through his time coaching and getting the boys “amped” for games and tough at practice. He sponsored the “hit or be hit” shirts the kids proudly wore adopting that philosophy for football grit. His love for sports and being involved in development was always on display. He had kind words of encouragement after a loss, teaching the boys how to grow from both experiences. A voice and presence that will be so genuinely missed by the community at SCDS and in the neighborhood. We are so saddened for this tragic loss and pray for strength and family healing.

- Doremus family, Savannah, GA

Today, we mourn the loss of a truly remarkable person, Mr. Scot Ritchie. The news of his passing has left a heavy heart in the Savannah Toyota community and beyond. Scott was more than just a fixture at the dealership; he was a beacon of kindness and warmth, always welcoming everyone with a genuine smile and a heartfelt greeting. Every time I walked into Savannah Toyota, I knew I could count on Scot to brighten my day. His passion for his work was evident, but what truly stood out was his unwavering commitment to building relationships. He took the time to listen, to share a laugh, and to offer support—qualities that made him not just a good guy, but a great friend. Scot’s infectious positivity and caring nature made every visit memorable. Whether you were there to purchase a car, get a service done, or just to chat, he made you feel valued and appreciated. He had an incredible ability to connect with everyone, making each encounter feel personal and special. In a world that can often feel rushed and impersonal, Scot reminded us of the importance of community and compassion. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories we all cherish. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult Scot You will be missed dearly, but your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace.

- Essie Johnson, Richmond Hill, GA

This is a tough one. It was such a blessing to have Scot in our lives. Nobody could make me laugh more than him and I’m sure he’s already telling stories with a crowd gathered around him. A true friend is someone that will always tell you what you NEED to hear as opposed to what you WANT to hear…that’s who he was, genuine and honest while always offering support. Reese, Marlo and Archer…to say your Dad was always proud of you is an understatement. Your lives always came first for Scot…anytime that you all were brought up in a conversation his whole world lit up. Starr…we are here for you during this difficult time and always!

- The Skinner Family , Savannah , GA

I was very saddened to see this young man’s picture in the obituaries this morning. I have met him so often after having bought many cars from Savannah Toyota.
